THE DIGEST
Remembering Doug Kranwinkle: A Pasadena Civic Leader and Legal Trailblazer
Pasadena is honoring the life of Doug Kranwinkle — a respected legal mind, public servant, and pillar of the community — who passed away this week.
Mayor Victor Gordo called him “a kind soul and a brilliant mind,” adding, “Doug was a force — in the law, in politics, in the long march toward civil rights in America.”
After clerking for U.S. Chief Justice Earl Warren in 1965, Kranwinkle moved to Pasadena in 1967, where he helped shape the city’s civic life for decades. He co-chaired the Arroyo Advisory Group, served as President of the Rose Bowl Operating Company, and sat on the Rose Bowl Institute Steering Committee.
Known for his intellect, warmth, and sharp perspective, he was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mayor Gordo said, “Pasadena has lost a pillar of its civic life — but we will carry forward his legacy of compassion, conviction, and community.”
USC Keck Medicine Announces New Medical Office This Fall
Pasadena’s getting a health care upgrade! This fall, USC’s Keck Medicine is opening a brand-new, state-of-the-art medical office at 625 Fair Oaks Ave. — just a stone’s throw from Huntington Hospital. The new spot will offer specialty care like cardiology, ENT, urology, and internal medicine, all in one sleek location.
Already known for its clinic on Foothill, Keck is doubling down on its love for Pasadena. “We’re proud to offer more convenient, high-quality care for patients where they live and work,” said Dr. Rodney Hanners, Keck’s CEO.
Consider this your official heads-up: expert care is about to get a whole lot closer. Doors open Fall 2025.
