New members participate in volunteer projects, leadership development, and committee work supporting programs throughout Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley.
Women ages 21 and older who live in Pasadena or the San Gabriel Valley are invited to attend one of several recruitment events this summer:
• Brunch at the JLP House — July 12, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Happy Hour Social at Cordova Cafe — July 29, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday Social at Wild Parrot Brewing — August 15, noon to 2 p.m.
• Taco Tuesday at the JLP House — September 1, 6 to 8 p.m.
Find event details and registration at pasadena.jl.org/events. Those interested but unable to attend can email Membership Vice President Jessica Hernandez at [email protected] for more information.
Pasadena Welcomes National Astronomy Conference This Week
Pasadena is hosting one of the world's largest astronomy gatherings this week as the 248th meeting of the American Astronomical Society brings hundreds of scientists, students, educators, and space professionals to the Pasadena Convention Center through June 18.
A major focus of this year's conference is NASA's upcoming Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which is expected to launch as the agency's next flagship astrophysics observatory. The mission has strong Pasadena ties, with Caltech/IPAC helping support science operations alongside NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and the Space Telescope Science Institute. Conference sessions throughout the week will also explore artificial intelligence in astronomy, new space missions, and the latest discoveries shaping our understanding of the universe.
