Europa Clipper on its Way

Congratulations to our very own Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on the successful launch of Europa Clipper! NASA has sent the Europa Clipper spacecraft on its way to explore Jupiter’s moon, Europa. This groundbreaking mission, developed right here in Pasadena, will study the moon’s subsurface ocean in hopes of finding conditions that could support life. It’s an exciting chapter for JPL, continuing Pasadena's proud legacy of space exploration.

Pasadena’s Dr. Elisa Pérez: Principal of the Year

October 13-19 is the Week of the School Administrator and Pasadena is honoring a principal of the year. Congratulations to Dr. Elisa Pérez, Pasadena's Principal of the Year! As the leader of Madison Elementary, Dr. Pérez has championed initiatives that boost reading proficiency and build a supportive community school model. A first-generation college graduate and social justice educator, Dr. Pérez is making a meaningful impact on students' lives, bringing academic and health resources to families while striving for equitable opportunities for all children.

Grant Announced to Clean San Gabriel River

Amid the backdrop of the roaring San Gabriel River headwaters, federal and state environmental agencies unveiled a $3.5 million grant on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to remove trash, debris, and pollutants from the river. The event took place near the entrance to the Angeles National Forest, marking a significant step toward restoring the river’s natural beauty and health.

  • 🕺🏽Modern Dance: Can robots and humans dance? Taiwanese artist and engineer Huang Yi & Kuka combine dance and robots for a captivating performance. This Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18th & 19th at 8 PM.

  • 👩‍🎨 Making Space: Art Workshop: Nov. 1st to Nov 3rd. Explore scientific concepts and humanity's relationship to space in this interdisciplinary workshop, aimed at adults with backgrounds in art, science/engineering, or education. The workshop is limited to 30 participants, with a fee of $50 ($20 for students), and applications are evaluated based on motivation and diverse skillsets

  • 🕳️Evelina Domnitch & Dmitry Gelfand: Orbihedron Opening Night: Celebrate Fulcrum Art's new gallery space, the Orbihedron! Audiences will be immersed in a sonic and visual experience representing the formation of a black hole, offering profound insight into quantum physics and the cosmos. The Fulcrum Arts on Fair Oaks. Gallery runs until January 19, 2025.

City council meeting will be held at Pasadena City Hall on Monday, October 21 at 5 PM.

🚧Construction Road Closures

There will be roadway construction on the west side of Altadena Dr. between Washington Blvd. and Canyon Close Rd beginning on October 15 and is anticipated to end in early November. There will be intermittent single-lane closures and parking restrictions along Altadena Dr.
