THE DIGEST
Rose Bowl Stadium Turns 102
The Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, often called "America's Stadium," opened on October 28, 1922, with its first game seeing the University of California defeat USC. Initially designed by Myron Hunt, the stadium was modeled after the Yale Bowl and has since hosted countless iconic events, including the annual Rose Bowl Game, Super Bowls, and FIFA World Cup finals. Today, the Rose Bowl remains a National Historic Landmark and a beloved venue for Pasadena’s biggest events.
Adaptive Sports Festival at Brookside Park
The Triumph Foundation's Adaptive Sports Festival is bringing an action-packed lineup to Pasadena, featuring wheelchair basketball, rugby, tennis, handcycling, archery, and more! With expert coaches ready to teach each sport, the festival invites everyone to play, learn, and celebrate inclusivity. This free event aims to raise awareness and expand access to adaptive sports, building a stronger, more inclusive community while having a blast! The festival will be held on Saturday, November 2nd from 9 AM – 4 PM at Brookside Park.
Pasadena Upgrades Before 2028 Olympics
Pasadena is charging ahead with a $51 million power grid overhaul to boost reliability before the 2028 Olympics, cutting its original timeline by four years. With over 200,000 feet of cable and critical transmission upgrades planned, the city aims to prevent large-scale outages and maintain its top-tier power reliability. City officials highlight the urgency as aging infrastructure strains the system, ensuring Pasadena stays powered up when the world arrives. Pasadena will be hosting games at the Rose Bowl.

CIVIL NEWS
Pasadena General Election 2024: City Ballot Measures
Pasadena voters will have the opportunity to decide on six important local measures on November 5, 2024, shaping the city’s future across several areas. Highlights include Measure PL, a bond measure for the Central Library, and Measure PR, a charter amendment proposal for rent control. Voters will also consider Measures PA, PB, and PC, which suggest amendments for election processes, mayoral roles, and term limits, along with Measure PF addressing the Fire and Police Retirement System. Each measure reflects key issues impacting Pasadena’s governance and community services.
🚧Construction Road Closures
There will be roadway construction on the west side of Altadena Dr. between Washington Blvd. and Canyon Close Rd beginning on October 15 and is anticipated to end in early November. There will be intermittent single-lane closures and parking restrictions along Altadena Dr.

SPOTLIGHT: KINROSE CREAMERY
If you are strolling in Pasadena after dinner and want a sweet treat, head to Kinrose Creamery. Personally, I cannot pass up the saffron pistachio rose but seasonal treats like Egyptian mint or figs & olives are worth sampling, too. This Egyptian-Iranian-rooted ice cream shop masterfully reinvents traditional desserts with unique toppings. Find this gem in the charming Mills Place alley, nestled between Colorado and Green Street.
