THE DIGEST

Pasadena City College is celebrating its 100th anniversary and they will be hosting a big event this Saturday!

PCC’s Community Birthday Party will headline three-time Grammy winners Ozomatli, featuring PCC alumnus Raul Pacheco. The event will also showcase a diverse lineup of performances, including mariachi music, African drumming, taiko drumming, ballet folklórico, and Armenian dance. Highlights include the PCC Choral Arts, Lancer Marching Band, and performances from groups like Mariachi Arco Iris de Los Angeles and Makoto Taiko.

Guests can enjoy live music on two stages, with a special "Happy Birthday" led by the Lancer Marching Band at 1:30 pm, followed by free cupcakes from Dot’s Cupcakes. Food trucks such as Kogi BBQ, Fat Boys, Dina’s Dumplings, and La Michoacana will also be on site. Community leaders, including U.S. Rep. Judy Chu and other local officials, will join the festivities.

Attendees can explore kid-friendly games, a custom-built piñata, and displays from PCC academic departments throughout the day.

PCC was founded in 1924 with just 267 students and has since grown into one of the leading community colleges in the U.S. Originally established as Pasadena Junior College, PCC merged with Pasadena High School in 1928 and expanded over the decades to include new programs, campuses, and facilities. PCC is recognized as one of the best community colleges in California. As Pasadena City College turns 100 years old, it continues to provide accessible, high-quality education to the Pasadena community and beyond.

I recently discovered this restaurant and I’ve gone for dinner here 5 times in the last 2 months. It is delicious!
Bone Kettle is a Southeast Asian restaurant on 67 North Raymond Ave. Specializing in bone broth and slow-cooked meats, the menu offers an array of Southeast Asian flavors, including noodles, dumplings, and small plates perfect for sharing. Their dishes have a modern twist in traditional recipes and are so rich in flavor. The venue is modern but cozy and perfect for a date night dinner. Also, as a little secret: they have a pandan crème brûlée that is out of this world—but it’s on their secret menu, so make sure to ask about it.
